We may be biased but we believe Slovenia to be one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It is also a truly hidden gem of a destination that is yet to be truly by the masses, so ow’s the time to visit!

There is no need to take our word for it. Instead, we recommend you make up your own mind up by gazing upon the beautiful imagery in this article and discovering the 8 reasons we believe everyone should visit Slovenia!

1. A Slovenian Something For Everyone

Slovenia has something for everyone.

The country has over 7,000 km of marked mountain trails and plenty of hills ensuring hikers and climbers of all abilities can find the perfect adventure. In winter, those mountains become a haven for skiers, whilst Slovenia’s seaside towns offer a blissful getaway of sun, sea and sand. So whether you’re looking to relax in beautiful surroundings or enjoy adventurous activities (also in beautiful surroundings) then Slovenia is the place to be.

2. The Slovenian People

Slovenians are a truly friendly and warm people and since many speak English, you will be able to pick their brains on everything from Slovenian culture and the natural wonders to the brilliant food! Be warned though, you might find yourself talking for hours!

Wondering why Slovenians are so warm and friendly? The answer might just lie in the country’s abundance of vineyards!

Wine lovers can rejoice, Slovenia produces plenty of beautiful wines from its multitude of vineyards. There are so many vineyards that there is approximately one for every 70 people living in Slovenia – that’s more than enough wine to go round.

Before you suggest our population is tiny, Slovenia is inhabited by over two million people. We’ll leave you to do the maths!

4. Bled Island

Bled Island is the closest thing on earth to a fairytale island. The ethereal Gothic church that perches majestically on the island is worthy of your bucket list and makes Bled Island one of the most Instagrammable locations on earth.

You can take a boat to the island and enjoy the many luxuries of this enchanting town including scenic walks or relaxing on the beach.

5. Slovenia is bordered by Hungary, Italy, Austria and Croatia

7. Slovenia Boasts Over 10,000 Caves

Whilst we wouldn’t recommend visiting them all, it’s pretty cool that Slovenia boasts so many caves! One we would definitely recommend seeing is the Postojna Cave. Here you can ride a railway deep into the cave, enjoying the spectacular views!

8. River Soča

The mountainous back-drop to River Soča provides a breathtaking view and serves to complement the waterway’s lush green vegetation and aqua blue waters. Adventure junkies can take in far more than just the scenery and enjoy many activities on and off the water including Kayaking, rafting, zip lining and canyoning.
