The Soča river valley is one of the great icons of Slovenia. It is surrounded by the Julian Alps, rich with history and beautiful sights. It’s a place where adventure minded people come together and spend quality time in pursuit of numerous activities. Soča is one of the most famous rivers for rafting, trout fishing and kayaking in Europe. It flows down the valley with its unique emerald color.
The Soča valley is a great experience even if you just want sightseeing. However, we highly recommend you to combine the tour with some outdoor activities. There is a lot to choose from. The activities can last from half to a full day such as hiking, climbing or canyoning. Or, if you prefer, you can opt for just a few hours of activities in the area, like kayaking, rafting, cycling, zip lining and more.
Once you enquire, we will adjust the day to your personal abilities and wishes. We assure you will leave with a great memory of this beautiful part of Slovenia.
We highly recommend Soča valley as part of a private multi-day itinerary. Especially in combination with hiking or climbing in the Julian Alps. Please reach out using our contact form for an itinerary suggestion.
Most common and comfortable time of the year to visit Soča is between April and October. In spring (April and May) the valley is bright green while the mountains are still white. Most people come here in July and August, which is the hottest part of the year. It is also the best period for water sports, like canyoning or rafting.
In our opinion, autumn (late September and October) can be most magical and also there are no crowds to expect. However, it can be a bit more risky in terms of weather, since there are bigger chances for rain.
Winter is the time when almost no one is exploring the valley. But if you are a more adventures type, you can have a blast with all the ice and snow formations. It is also great to combine it with other winter activities on the nearby mountains, such as skiing, ski touring or even ice climbing.
