One of the most spectacular areas of the alps are the alpine lakes of Slovenia, Lake Bled and Bohinj. Bled is one of the most well-known natural sites in Slovenia which unfortunately means it can get quite busy. However there are ways to avoid the majority of the crowds and experience these beautiful places through active travel.

The hikes and gorges surrounding the lakes are a great way to experience the beauty without being marred by the crowds. Leaving the busy but beautiful Lake Bled towards peaceful Bohinj is also a way experience more. Bohinj stands in the heart of the Julian Alps providing hiking opportunities to cherish. Whether it is riding the gondola up to Vogel for the great views and hikes or exploring neighbouring waterfalls there is breathtaking nature in every direction. A memory to cherish is taking a boat or canoe out on the lake to experience the feeling of tranquillity in a spectacular setting. On warmer days after rock climbing or hiking, we recommend a dip in the lake for a refreshing swim before heading back to civilisation and exploring the famous sights of Bled.

We tailor the itinerary of this tour to suit your abilities and weather conditions. This way we can create the best experience for you in the alpine lakes.

We can combine these sights with our personalised private itineraries in which you can add options such as overnight hiking/climbing in the Julian Alps. Take a look at our Triglav climb and hiking the Triglav lakes for ideas and options.
